Predictive control of transport-reaction processes

چکیده
This work focuses on the development of computationally efficient predictive control algorithms for nonlinear parabolic and hyperbolic PDEs with state and control constraints arising in the context of transport-reaction processes. We first consider a diffusion-reaction process described by a nonlinear parabolic PDE and address the problem of stabilization of an unstable steady-state subject to input and state constraints. Galerkin’s method is used to derive finite-dimensional systems that capture the dominant dynamics of the parabolic PDE, which are subsequently used for controller design. Various model predictive control (MPC) formulations are constructed on the basis of the finite d r t a ©

Predictive Control of Gas Injection in Natural Gas Transport Networks
The present sought to draw a comparison between Model Predictive Control performance and two other controllers named Simple PI and Selective PI in controlling large-scale natural gas transport networks. A nonlinear dynamic model of representative gas pipeline was derived from pipeline governing rules and simulated in SIMULINK® environment of MATLAB®. Control schemes were designed to provide a s...
متن کاملControlling Nonlinear Processes, using Laguerre Functions Based Adaptive Model Predictive Control (AMPC) Algorithm
Laguerre function has many advantages such as good approximation capability for different systems, low computational complexity and the facility of on-line parameter identification. Therefore, it is widely adopted for complex industrial process control. In this work, Laguerre function based adaptive model predictive control algorithm (AMPC) was implemented to control continuous stirred tank rea...
متن کاملEconomic Model Predictive Control of Transport-Reaction Processes
This work focuses on the development of economic model predictive control (EMPC) systems for transportreaction processes described by nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs) and their applications to a nonisothermal tubular reactor where a second-order chemical reaction takes place. The tubular reactor is modeled by two nonlinear parabolic PDEs. Galerkin’s method is used to de...
متن کاملEffect of Complexation Reaction Constant on the Separation of Propylene/Propane by Supported Liquid Membrane
Traditional systems for olefin/paraffin separation, like low-temperature distillation, are expensive and very energy consuming, and therefore, alternative separation methods are desired. Facilitated transport membranes are new tools for this separation to be substituted in large scale separation of olefin-paraffin mixtures. To design a membrane process for olefin-paraffin separation, equilibriu...
متن کاملTHEORY, EXPERIMENT AND PRACTICE OF SLAG ATTACK OF REFRACTORIES
Penetration and dissolution mechanisms are reviewed for predominantly single-phase oxide, two phase oxide and oxide-carbon composite refractories by liquid silicate slags. Theoretical models of these processes, as well as static (sessile drop, dipping and crucible) and dynamic (rotating finger and rotary slag) experimental tests, along with their practical limitations are considered. Direct (co...
